An alternative solution to a wet basement is called exterior waterproofing. This method solves water problems caused both by foundation leaks and hydrostatic pressure by effectively sealing your basement in an impermeable envelope.
- First, a trench is excavated all the way around the foundation of your home extending out 2-3 foot and going as deep as the foundation’s footings.
- Any old materials such as previously installed weeping tiles or wicking cloth are removed.
- The foundation of your home is then inspected by our team of experts and any crack or voids are repaired using hydraulic cement. Hydraulic cement expands to make sure no gaps are left.
- A rubber membrane is then applied to the entire foundation wall. This rubber sheeting acts as the main barrier preventing exterior water from entering your basement.

- The trench is then partially backfilled with gravel to help improve the drainage of the tiles.
- The removed soil is then used to finish backfilling the trench and you have a completely waterproofed basement.
